Generator enclosures and plant rooms are usually finished in dark grey or black, and a bright stainless cap on the stack is the one part that always looks out of place. This black powder coated exhaust rain cap is produced for that exact setting: the same flapper mechanism as our stainless range, but with a matte black polyester coating that blends into the enclosure and hides soot marks between services.

The coating is not a spray can job. Panels are degreased, rinsed, iron phosphated and dried before an electrostatic polyester powder is applied and cured at 200 °C for 15 minutes. The result is a 60 to 80 micron film with cross-hatch adhesion of class 1 and enough flexibility to survive the thermal cycling of a standby generator without crazing. Because the stack of a genset is often within reach of operators, the matte finish also cuts glare under plant-room lighting.
